PROJECT OVERVIEW

AskPronto aims to be the go-to destination for live expert guidance, in real-time, for achieving a greater sense of independence and autonomy for young adults. The app will help reach a broad range of users that may not have access to a support system in the most crucial stage of adulthood.

By bridging the gap between watching a how-to video and hiring an expensive professional, this app will be an affordable alternative to getting answers to everyday questions and problems. Connecting experts with users, face to face, will provide a personal, productive and overall increase the value of the experience.

TARGET AUDIENCE

img_groupstudents.jpg

Young adults between the ages of 18-26

The minimum age demographic for this app is 18, as that is the required age for payment platforms like PayPal and Venmo. The app will enable payments between parties through online money transfers. The upper age range is 26, for at this point, anyone older will most likely be out of an academic setting. The app will be accessible to all users over 18 unless a parent or legal guardian consents.

THE PROBLEM

Young adult needs a way to access live support in a variety of topics because they lack the knowledge or support to complete a specific task independently.

We will know this to be true when we see them access a live expert and complete the task they requested assistance with, independently.

  • young adults often encounter a lack of the guidance for achieving the independence and autonomy they desire

  • drawing on over two decades of experience, I've observed a growing need for timely, trusted information

  • many young adults are hesitant to turn to their parents as their first point of contact for help

  • asking authority figures for help may not always result in a supportive and encouraging manner

  • pressure to “figure it out” is a common response heard from authority figures

  • users looking for help could initially be frustrated, annoyed or anxious

  • there is nothing currently on the market that provides expert help in a variety of fields via live in real-time video chat

  • onboarding is a continued skipped feature

WIREFRAMES & PROTOTPYING

Evolution of AskPronto from lo-fi to hi-fi wireframes & prototype

Mid-fi Wireframes

Hi-fi Wireframes

WIREFRAMES

  • found that creating wireframes was more efficient with a small wipe erase board vs paper templates

  • quickly adjusted the frames to try out new ideas without wasting ink and paper

  • captured my process by taking photos of the boards and then turning the final designs into paper wireframes

  • I personally like to go from brainstorming with the wipe board to digital wireframes (preferred software is Figma)

  • understanding how to create components and cataloging them in a design system for easy of future iterations

  • the benefits of continuing to learning more about the software to reduce my own personal cognitive load

Key_edited_edited.png

Prototype

PROTOTYPING

  • the value of implementing memorable icons for fast recall

  • users enjoyed the ability to login in quickly with social media

  • the importance of making sure nothing on the screen bounces to avoid distractions between flows

  • importance of a usual bottom navigation bar so users can quickly navigate the application to reduce cognitive load

  • taking a class in FIMGA would have been a great idea at the beginning of my program to save time and work more efficiently

Logo

The AskPronto logo was designed to reflect the direct message behind the app which is to provide live video assistance anywhere! The word “pronto” means ready in Italian and “quickly” in English. The concept was merged together to display a readiness to provide our users with a vast field of knowledge quickly through a live chat platform from anywhere in the world.

The logo uses the font Opens Sans extra bold in a calming Lapis Blue for “Ask”, a live video icon to represent the “o” and Opens Sans regular in Black for the typography of “Pronto!”. Open Sans is continued as the font for our slogan “Live Assistance Anywhere”.

* as pictured, logo can also appear in white (Ask) and a white “video chat” icon without a slogan attached on a dark background for better visibility.
** when the logo is used on darker background “Ask” should be shown in white extra bold for clarity.
